Select Appointments was established in 1980 to provide a high-quality and personal recruitment service to employers and job seekers, specialising in the business support sector across a variety of industries.

Our name was chosen with considerable care and we continue to adhere to the dictionary definition of Select – “chosen for excellence – pick out as best or most suitable”. This definition forms the basis of our company culture and our commitment to a quality service that far exceeds that which is usually found in the recruitment industry.

As your local business partner each Select office provides local recruitment knowledge and expertise supported by a major national recruitment brand.

Operating our successful franchise model Select currently has 27 offices throughout the UK with exciting development plans to increase this number to 100 over the next five years.

We are also proud to be members of both the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and the British Franchise Association (BFA), the governing bodies for Recruitment and Franchising in the UK respectively.


Select also operates two sister brands:

  • Parkhouse – industrial recruitment experts specialising in warehouse, driving, production, technical & engineering, and facilities & maintenance
  • Select Hospitality – finding hospitality jobs in the food & beverage, chefs & kitchen, front of house, operating, waiting and events sectors


In 2012 Select was acquired by the Staffline Group Plc, a recruitment, training and out-sourcing company founded in Nottingham in 1986.

The Staffline Group was established in 1986 and over time has grown into a national organisation specialising in logistics, e-retail, manufacturing, driving, food processing and white collar recruitment.  We provide and manage workforces and use training and business improvement techniques to ensure increased levels of efficiency to give our clients a significant commercial advantage.

Our vision is to build and develop the most reliable integrated workforce in the country and be the leading creator of opportunities, jobs and new ideas in the employability, skills and justice sectors.

From our network of more than 450 locations, we supply in excess of 55 million hours of temporary labour each year to our diverse portfolio of more than 1,600 clients, including the major supermarket chains, food growers and manufacturers, logistics and distribution centres, customer service organisations, the care sector and welfare to work.

Our dedicated welfare to work and skills division, PeoplePlus, which incorporates Avanta and 2015 acquisition A4e, provides a ground-breaking and highly effective approach to reducing worklessness. Our Employment Centres offer jobseekers practical, sector-specific experience of working in various professional directions, placing them back into sustainable employment. We are one of the largest Work Programme providers in the UK in terms of the number of jobseekers supported and contracted regions serviced, with a Work Programme presence in nine CPAs (regions) as a prime contractor and six further regions as a sub-contractor.
